Lighthouse Baptist Church held its annual First Responder Sunday on Aug. 24, welcoming and honoring the “dedication, service and sacrifice to our community” of local law enforcement, firefighting and emergency personnel.
In front of the congregation gathered in the historic church on Neal Street on the edge of downtown Pleasanton, Pastor Bill Bryson told the first responders, “Thank you for your dedication to service and to us, the people you serve. Thank you for the hardships you go through, for the danger you put yourselves in for others and ourselves. Thank you.”
The pastor also reminded congregants to pray for first responders anytime they hear a siren.
Those in attendance for the occasion included Pleasanton Police Chief Tracy Avelar, Dublin Police Chief Victor Fox, Pleasanton Police Capt. Roy Gamez, Alameda County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Justin Miguel, Sheriff’s Capt. Ray Kelly, Dublin Police Officer Gary Codde, California Highway Patrol Officer Tyler Hahn and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Chris Jesberg.
