Graduation Day
High school seniors in the Tri-Valley are set for their graduation ceremonies in the week ahead.
For the comprehensive schools, Pleasanton Unified is presenting the Foothill High School ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday (May 30) and Amador Valley’s follows at 7 p.m. — at the respective campuses’ football fields, as well as livestreamed online.
Livermore Valley also has Granada and Livermore graduating this Friday, both at 5 p.m.
Dublin High School is holding its ceremony next Tuesday (June 3) at 4:30 p.m. in Gaels Stadium. And San Ramon Valley’s events are set for 6 p.m. next Friday (June 6) at each of the four high schools.
Go to each district’s website for more information on the alternative high school ceremonies and middle school promotions.
Pinnacle Performance
Richert Lumber Co. Ace Hardware received the Pinnacle Performance Award from Ace Hardware Corp. for the fifth year in a row, recognizing the Pleasanton store among its best 1% of stores.
To earn the award, Richert Lumber Co. associates completed specialized training such as “Helpful 101” and “Helpful 201” courses, participated in a week-long team certification event and obtained outstanding performance reviews from customers, according to store reps.
“The team at Richert Lumber Co. is incredibly pleased to have earned the status as a Pinnacle Performance store,” said Matt Richert, owner of Richert Lumber Co., “because our team strives to embody the Ace motto, ‘Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks,’ in every interaction.”
Health expo
CityServe of the Tri-Valley is hosting its Community Health and Wellness Expo next Wednesday (June 4) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd.
“This is a drop-in event packed with valuable information, local services and wellness resources designed specifically for seniors in the Tri-Valley and surrounding areas,” organizers said. “Whether you’re a community member, caregiver, professional or advocate, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn and share.”
Midway Fire
CalFire reported the wildfire that broke out on the afternoon of May 22 east of Livermore was fully contained at 261 acres as of Saturday night.
The Midway Fire sparked for unknown reasons near the intersection of Patterson Pass and Midway roads just before 3 p.m. May 22 and spread with initial haste before crews controlled its growth that afternoon and evening. The blaze closed Interstate 580 in both directions for a period between Livermore and Tracy.
