“I have been making Verdelho for 20 years, and this is my favorite one so far,” said Brent Amos, winemaker, general manager and partner at the Livermore winery. “We work very hard to maintain and constantly improve the quality of our wines, and are grateful for the recognition this award brings.”

“Verdelho is a grape that is very special to me, and so far, we are the only vineyard in Livermore Valley growing Verdelho,” Amos told Livermore Vine. “Hopefully that will change in the future, as I feel this grape performs beautifully here in the Livermore Valley, and I would love to see other local wineries making wine from Verdelho.”

The team of 39 judges tasted and evaluated 1,587 wines from 309 California brands for this year’s contest, fair officials said.

Tri-Valley residents can get a taste of the upgraded Patterson Pass Water Treatment Plant during the Zone 7 Water Agency’s first-ever Water Awareness Month Open House this Saturday (May 3) starting at 10 a.m.

“The event offers an up-close look at the Tri-Valley water’s incredible journey from the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains to your taps. The California Highway Patrol’s Dublin Area office is set to conduct a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint within the Livermore city limits on Friday night.

The exact location of the checkpoint is not yet known but it will be confirmed about two hours before it starts, according to the CHP.

The checkpoint will be in operation between 9 p.m. Friday (May 2) and 2 a.m. Saturday (May 3).

East Bay Regional Park District officials are soliciting public input from all stakeholders for its next District Plan, the “long-term strategic roadmap” for the future of the agency’s parks, trails, visitor centers and open space areas.

“The new District Plan will build upon past planning efforts and expand to incorporate the changes in the climate, economy, and demographics of the East Bay,” EBRPD officials said. “The Plan will be based on extensive research of existing conditions, analysis of future trends, and, most important, ideas and needs from the community.”

The online survey at ebparks.org/district-plan is open through at least July 31, and printed versions are available in English, Spanish and Chinese languages at EBRPD visitor centers. The district’s process to develop the plan is set to continue through 2026.

Billed as a “fun music festival right in your own backyard”, the event is designed with a “leave-no-trace” model with a full slate of musical acts on multiple stages, food for all three meals daily by chef Sean Sanders, and planned and unplanned activities such as morning yoga, evening jam sessions and impromptu hikes.

“Family-oriented camping, a full weekend of concerts, great campfire jamming everywhere and kid activities, all during the first weekend in May at Los Mochos!” organizers said online.

The Two Day Town is listed as sold out. For more information, visit twodaytown.com.
