PUSD budget input session

Pleasanton Unified School District officials are holding a community meeting online on Nov. 6 to gather feedback from staff, families, students and other residents about the budget challenges the district is facing.

“Participants can learn about the financial landscape, including the need for ongoing expenditure reductions and/or revenue enhancements that will net a total of $8,660,000 in 2025-26 and $905,204 in 2024-25,” PUSD reps said.

“Community members are also encouraged to visit pleasantonusd.net/budget-challenges to provide input or ask questions regarding PUSD’s budget,” they added.

The session is set for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 6; use link pusdedu.info/1106. It will be the second of two community meetings, following one scheduled for earlier this week.

‘Citizen Nation’ advanced screening

Foothill High School’s We the People team will be featured prominently — with Amador Valley High School’s squad also spotlighted — in the fourth and final episode of “Citizen Nation” on PBS next week. And a special early screening has been scheduled for Monday night.

The documentary series airing through October follows the national civics competition held earlier this year, in which Foothill finished third and Amador ninth.

The advanced screening of the final episode is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday (Oct. 28) in the Hayward Performing Arts Center. Afterward, series creator Bret Sigler will take part in a conversation moderated by Alameda County Board of Education President Cheryl Cook-Kallio. RSVP at bit.ly/citizen-nation-ca.

The episode will broadcast nationally on Tuesday (Oct. 29) on PBS affiliates, including KQED in the Bay Area.

Firms merge to form Sanbell

An engineering, community planning and design firm with an office in Pleasanton has completed its year-long-plus merger process and come out with a new name, Sanbell.

Formally Sanderson Bellecci, Inc., the company was formed by combining four firms: Sanderson Stewart, Bellecci and Associates, Summit Engineering and Coleman Engineering. It also has California offices in Concord and Roseville, along with locations in Billings, Bozeman and Helena, Mo.; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Elko and Reno, Nev.

“This strategic move to unite under a bold, new brand marks a significant milestone in our company’s evolution. It underscores that we are truly combined in our commitment to innovation, growth, and delivering world-class quality and service to our clients,” CEO Michael Sanderson said in a press release.

“This new visual identity was designed to better represent Sanbell’s unified and exciting future, while honoring its strong foundation of decades worth of enduring, intelligent infrastructure designed to make our communities better,” he added. “Our icon represents elements from our land surveying heritage, the mountain peaks of our western landscapes, and the movement forward to our shared future. The fulcrum within the wordmark represents a north arrow element which guides us with a sense of stability and balance.”
