The Livermore Chapter of the Young Men’s Service League brought joy to a number of Tri-Valley families this holiday season with its annual Ultimate Gift project.

The group organized a toy drive and holiday celebration earlier this month for families supported by Little Miracles of Pleasanton, a nonprofit organization founded in 2022 that provides essential baby supplies and clothing to parents in need in the Tri-Valley area.

Melissa Dantzig, co-founder of Little Miracles, said in a statement that the Christmas season can be especially challenging for the families they serve. "My wish is that YMSL knows the impact they are making to our community. They are a true miracle," Dantzig said.

The Young Men's Service League (YMSL) is a national nonprofit organization. Its members are moms and their teenage sons who volunteer together to serve their local communities.

The group's Ultimate Gift goal is to assist a philanthropy partner with a project that they would not be able to achieve without YMSL's support, according to a statement from the organization.

The Livermore YMSL chapter – which was established in 2021 – collaborated with Little Miracles this year for the Holiday Miracles celebration to create a memorable experience for the families in Little Miracles’ network.

YMSL Livermore members transformed the space at Little Miracles into a holiday wonderland. Families were greeted with cookies and juice, a visit and pictures with Santa, a book and blanket, and toys of their choice. While gifts were being wrapped, kids participated in activities including bean-bag toss and coloring.

Prior to the celebratory event held on Dec. 2, YMSL Livermore also held a toy and book drive, which received overwhelming generosity from the community. Hundreds of new toys and books for young children were donated, according to the organization's statement.

YMSL president Heather Druba highlighted the group's dedication to making a positive impact on the community.

"We believe in the power of service and the importance of making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Partnering with Little Miracles has been a rewarding experience for our members and young men, and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring joy to these remarkable children and their families," Druba said.

YMSL Livermore recently achieved a milestone of serving over 10,000 hours in under 2.5 years. The national organization currently represents nearly 12,500 moms and over 13,000 young men in 135 chapters in 18 states.

In addition to fostering a heart for service, YMSL aims to teach leadership and life skills as part of its four-year comprehensive program to develop young men into capable and confident leaders of tomorrow.
