The Pleasanton City Council will be holding an impromptu closed session meeting Tuesday evening to discuss City Manager Gerry Beaudin’s successor following his recent decision to leave Pleasanton for the city of Alameda.
This special meeting is taking place exactly one week after the Alameda City Council confirmed Beaudin’s appointment and approved his contract.
While there are no details available on what specifically will be discussed during the “public employee appointment” item, the agenda report states that members of the public will have the opportunity to speak on the item during the public comment, which takes place right before the council breaks for deliberations.
Once they return from the discussion, there will be a period for the council to report out on the closed session.
The news of Beaudin’s departure first broke in early April when he was named as a finalist for the Alameda city manager position. After an initial delay in approving his contract, the Alameda City Council unanimously voted to appoint Beaudin at its May 5 meeting.
Since then, Beaudin sent out a letter to Pleasanton city employees thanking them and the community for their support over the years and confirmed his last day working at the city is June 5.
The special closed Pleasanton City Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (May 12). The full agenda can be accessed here.
