Amid new immigration enforcement efforts under President Donald Trump’s administration, Alameda County officials are holding an online town hall Monday aimed at helping immigrants, refugees and other residents understand their rights under federal, state and local laws.

Cohosted by the offices of county supervisors David Haubert and Elisa Márquez, the “Immigration & Refugee Know Your Rights Town Hall” is set to feature up-to-date information about “legal protections, available services and advocacy efforts in our community”.

“My office is committed to ensuring that everyone in our community feels safe and informed. Both documented and undocumented persons have rights in the United States. It’s important to know your rights and access resources,” said Haubert, whose District 1 includes most of the Tri-Valley. “Join us for an informative session where you can ask questions, connect with advocacy organizations, and learn how to navigate immigration policies.”

Groups on hand will include Centro Legal De La Raza, the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area, the Public Defender’s Office and the Alameda County Office of Education, according to Haubert’s office.

The webinar is set to run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 10) and will be offered in multiple languages, according to organizers. Connect to the meeting via this Zoom link.
