The creative talents of middle and high school students from throughout the Bay Area will be showcased at the Museum on Main in downtown Pleasanton for the next week.
The Pleasanton Art League is displaying 65 works selected for its annual youth art competition in its “PAL’s Pals” exhibition at the museum starting this Saturday (March 22). The opening reception from 1-4 p.m. that day will also include an awards ceremony.
“As the show’s chairperson I had the privilege of reviewing each piece of art that was submitted,” PAL member Jean Batchelder told the Weekly.
“I’ve been an active artist for 30 years and have been involved with exhibitions around the country. I’ve seen a lot of great visual art, and I feel much of the work these young artists submitted exhibits talent and skill that challenges the best of us,” Batchelder added. “There are obviously some exceptional art teachers in our schools. I’m looking forward to this exhibit.”
Sponsored each year by PAL, the 2025 competition saw participants from the Tri-Valley and beyond — 27 schools represented in all, from as far away as Cupertino and Saratoga. California artist Paul Kratter is the show’s juror.
“PAL’s Pals” will run at the museum at 603 Main St. through next Saturday (March 29) during regular operating hours. For more information, go to museumonmain.org. An online gallery of the students’ art can be viewed at pal-art.com.
