The wide-ranging creativity of Tri-Valley artists is at the heart of the new group exhibition in the Firehouse Arts Center’s Harrington Gallery.

The Pleasanton Art League’s 17th annual “Fall Members’ Show” is on display in the downtown Pleasanton venue now through Dec. 21, featuring nearly 80 works across many mediums.

“This year’s edition of annual show with the Pleasanton Art League is brimming with works of all mediums and an incredible vitality from the group’s many new members,” Harrington Gallery curator Sydney Tang told the Weekly.

“Apart from the two-month long exhibition, there will be an incredible lineup of live artist demonstrations on select Saturdays where visitors are able to take a deep dive into an artist’s creative process,” Tang added.

An opening reception and awards ceremony, with the honors judged by Bill Carmel, was held last weekend. The exhibition is accessible during the gallery’s normal hours on Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Meanwhile, visitors to the Firehouse may also view “Valley Vernacular” — a solo exhibition in the theater’s lobby featuring paintings by Livermore artist Carolyn Lord.

With nearly 20 works on display, the exhibit “reflects Lord’s artistic lineage of tonalism and impressionism” via landscapes, architectural studies and botanical paintings, according to Tang.

“Taking a mundane scene and breathing life into it, Carolyn Lord’s solo exhibition explores the artist’s work from recent years,” Tang said. “Carefully drawing out shadows and thought-provoking perspectives from a common setting, viewers can expect to see a wide range of Lord’s signature watercolors to her oil paintings.”

“Valley Vernacular” is also open through Dec. 21. A special reception is set for Nov. 16 from 1-3 p.m., and a gallery talk is due to follow on the closing afternoon in December.
