Something cool is coming to the Bankhead Theater, a first-of-its-kind performance on the indoor stage in downtown Livermore.
Ice Creative Entertainment is presenting its traveling show, “The Wizard of Oz On Ice”, next weekend – a reimagining of the classic story of Dorothy, the Yellow Brick Road and the Land of Oz starring Olympic-level ice skaters with new music, colorful costumes, elaborate sets and special effects.

“My understanding is that it’s a synthetic ‘ice’ surface they lay on the stage, but they’ll really be ice skating. We have never done a show like this before, so I am excited to bring something new like this to the Bankhead,” Livermore Valley Arts CEO Chris Carter told the Pleasanton Weekly.
“I want to see how it will work just as much as anyone else,” he added. “Personally, I love how versatile we are, and bringing a unique event like this really speaks to our values of creativity, along with the depth and breadth of arts experiences. And it’s great for families!”
“The Wizard of Oz On Ice” has been moving west since opening in North Carolina in January. The troupe has also performed “Peter Pan”, “Cinderella” and “Beauty and the Beast” on ice in the past.
The Bankhead show is scheduled for next Sunday (April 12) at 3 p.m. For tickets and more information, go to livermorearts.org.
