The Pleasanton Lady Cavaliers rugby team is headed to the National High School Rugby Championships next month in Pittsburgh, Pa.

It’s the second straight national invitational appearance for the Pleasanton squad, who took home the Division II title at the 2014 event, held in Massachusetts.

The Lady Cavaliers, in their fourth season of existence, are currently ranked as the No. 6 girls high school rugby team in the country, according to the Goff Rugby Report.

The 16th annual girls National High School Rugby Championships is set for May 15-17.

The Lady Cavaliers will be holding a fundraising dinner and auction at Handles Gastropub on Main Street on May 9 to help the team offset costs associated with the tournament, including entry, travel and lodging. For more information, call Janet at 667-0730.
