A 47-year-old man turned himself in early Friday morning in connection with a fatal shooting in Fremont the previous day, police said.
Abbasin Hoshmand, a Fremont resident, is in custody following the shooting reported at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 26) in the 40400 block of Grimmer Boulevard, according to Fremont police.
Officers found the male victim suffering from gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately available from the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.
Investigators identified Hoshmand as the shooting suspect and attempted to locate him, then learned in the early morning hours of Friday that he had come to the Pleasanton Police Department to turn himself in.
Police have not released any information about what led to the shooting or a possible motive but said they plan to present the case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in the days ahead. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Fremont police investigations unit at 510-790-6900.
