Public Storage in the 2500 block of Santa Rita Road was held up late Monday morning by a “homeless-type person,” Pleasanton police reported.

The robbery took place at about 10:55 a.m., according to the release.

“The suspect entered the business and told the employee to give him what he wanted and he would not hurt her. The employee complied and surrendered her keys and wallet,” the release said. No weapon was displayed and the employee was not injured.

The suspect left on foot and was last seen running toward the Iron Horse Trail behind the business. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The robber is described as a white male adult in his 20s with blonde hair, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing between 145 and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a baggy black hooded sweatshirt and baggy pants, with a beanie-style hat pulled over his face.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.

  1. This will continue to happen, Pleasanton has no services, housing, food donation, support for any homeless individual. We have more and more homeless people living in Pleasanton with no where for them to get help.

  2. @Job,

I’m not saying this is the case here, but most homeless street people (about 85%) are mentally ill or have severe substance abuse problems. For psychotics and schizophrenics, I don’t think employment is the real issue, and for chronic drug addicts and alcoholics, it would probably be a better idea to get them treated before getting them jobs.

Where do you suggest these people get their jobs, btw? Hard to get an interview when you can’t shower and have to walk everywhere.

Wait! There’s always Walmart and McD’s, where they can work full time and still be eligible for food stamps.

  3. Might’ve helped.
