A four-level, 452-space parking garage downtown Livermore is officially open to the public, city officials have announced on social media.
The new Livermore Village (L Street) Parking Garage, located off South L Street between Railroad Avenue and First Street, joins a pair of existing garages downtown that provide a total of 774 spaces — Livermore Valley Center parking structure and I Street Parking Garage.
With an all-in cost estimated at $40.2 million, the newly opened garage is anticipated to provide sufficient parking for future developments downtown.
The garage opened shortly later than anticipated, as city officials previously expected it would open during fall of 2025. However, completion of the structure marks the city’s progress on its “major” downtown revitalization projects, according to the city’s website.
In addition to the new garage, the overall project also included expanding the existing landscaped pathway to First Street east of the garage, creation of crosswalks on L Street and Veterans Way, demolition of 2048 First St., the creation of an arch from the demolished building on private property south of the garage and placement of associated utilities for the structure including a new sewer line south of the garage, the city’s website states.
It was not immediately clear whether all elements of the garage project have been completed.
“A big thank you to our engineering team and to building, landscaping, maintenance, streets and all the other city staff and community partners who worked hard to bring this project to completion,” city officials wrote Dec. 23 on social media.
