A standing room-only crowd of family and friends overwhelmed the Livermore-Danville rooms at the Pleasanton Marriott Feb. 5 as 21 Pleasanton Rage players signed national letters of intent to continue their soccer careers at the college and university level.
Guest speakers included Judy Coffman (Rage 2003, University of Michigan), Kendra Perry (Rage 2007, Santa Clara University), Katie Mahoney (Rage 2003, Arizona State) and Erica Carlson from Excellence in Sports Performance and Rage consulting psychologist.
Players signing letter of intent were: Megan Barrett, UC Davis; Krista Bormann, Southern Oregon University; Rachel Clark, UC Berkeley; Samantha Cloutier, George Washington University; Maddie Fox, Notre Dame; Marisa Fraticelli, SDSU; Caitlin Harper, Cal Poly; Megan Jurado, SDSU; Olivia Klei, Santa Clara; Raylene Larot, University of Nevada Reno; Esther Leon, University of Nevada Reno; Shelby Lewis, UC Riverside; Ashley Loughmiller, Washington State University; Amanda Luxford, Arizona State; Ashlyn Mazur, USF; Rachael McGlinchy, SDSU; Sophie Metz, UCLA; Carlee Payne, BYU; Maddie Payne, Boston College; Amanda Simat, SJSU and Ahsha Smith, UCLA.
Rage Technical Director Philippe Blin commended the girls on their outstanding achievements and success both on and off the field. The Pleasanton Rage Girls Soccer Club is a community based girls club with 2000 girls in programs ranging from recreational to elite soccer. Since 2001 the Rage club has graduated 133 players who have gone on to play soccer for colleges and universities. Twelve senior Rage girls who are on the Foothill varsity soccer team, will soon be headed to the playoffs in what has been an astonishing season. As of press time, the team was 17-0 after edging out San Ramon Valley 3-2 last Friday. They faced off against Livermore High Wednesday and will face Amador tonight at 6 p.m. at Foothill High School.
