The Academic Performance Index (API) for schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District show students are in the top 10 percent in the state. The scores reflect the California Department of Education’s accountability system, where on a 200-1000 point scale, a score of 800 is considered exemplary. Each school in the district, except Village High School with 590, exceeded that goal, with a district-wide score of 881. Mohr Elementary was just 40 points shy of perfection.
Scores for 2006 were gathered from the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR), which includes three other tests, as well as the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). New testing requirements imposed by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, which went into effect last year, making it incompatible to compare the scores with previous years.
The 2006 API scores will be discussed at the April 24 school board meeting.
