There were two incorrect statements in the June 30, 2006, cover story “Celebrating Independence Day in Pleasanton.” The article inaccurately said Karla Comfort’s son died in a Hummer after it was hit by improvised explosive in Fallujah, Iraq. He actually died when another solider stepped on a pressure plate after a promotion ceremony at a flour factory, triggering up to five artilleries and killing 10 Marines. The article also inaccurately said that Pleasanton resident Ian Dollard was the only survivor. There were actually several survivors.
