Robert Collins was announced as Amador Valley High School’s new basketball coach, taking the spot left by retired Coach Don Underwood. Underwood coached the Amador team for 27 years.
Collins is currently a teacher and head basketball coach for Richmond High School where he has taught for the past four years. Prior to his work with Richmond, he was a coach at Acalanes High School in Lafayette His coaching record includes advancement to the North Coast Section playoffs 11 times, achieving three league titles for Acalanes along with two appearances in the Northern California playoffs. He earned his credential from St. Mary’s College in 1997 and has taught Spanish and P.E. classes. At Amador, he will be teaching academic support classes for underachieving students.
