The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in collaboration with the School of Education at the University of California, Davis, is hosting 12 workshops for middle and high school science teachers.
The workshops teach teachers about biophotonics, biotechnology and astrophysics. While those subjects may sound daunting, the workshops are designed to start at the basic level and build upon each other so that even people with no knowledge of the subjects can join in and be experts by the end. The workshops consist of four sessions, each progressing in difficulty. Teachers will learn through the use of hands-on activities and experience using advanced science equipment so they can then take that knowledge back to their classroom in the fall.
The workshops run from June 27-July 21 and are held at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, San Joaquin County Office of Education, California State University, Fresno, and UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. All workshops are free. Visit http://education.llnl.gov for more information.
