Jake "has got it right". Any incident that involves gunfire is a threat to the community. Also, the police should provide as much detail as they can regarding descriptions of people, vehicles, etc. It always appears PPD is concerned about offending one group or another and, therefore, don't want to state a person's race (for example). We are not as racist a society as the news media, many politicians, and "invested organizations" would like everyone to believe! If PPD wants our help why don't they respect our true character?

First off they didn’t say they “needed” the communities help, they said if you have information to contact them. Everyone has a camera now days so you never know who may have gotten it on tape, maybe the church or the Bay Club security camera’s. All evidence is welcome. As a domestic dispute it was a targeted shooting so therefore there is no on going danger to the community. Since it was a domestic dispute my bet is they already know who they are looking for so no need for suspect or vehicle description. They don’t release all the information they have in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

So Carl- apparently you have some inside information based on the words you used in your comment, care to enlighten us? And I wouldn’t be to quick to judge another police department just to elevate yourself. Are you indicating that OPD and SFPD behave poorly? Be careful with your judgement, because I’m sure some of the officers from those two Departments you just disparaged are Pleasanton citizens.

Jake - you have an issue reading what people write. I didn’t disparage any officer, I said department. The OPD police chief himself said they don’t have the resources to respond to all the crime in their city. The “defund the police” movement has resulted in thousands of early retirements in the left leaning cities and set back large departments staffing that will take many years to recover from. PPD doesn’t have to deal with the same political climate as well as crime that OPD and SFPD have to deal with. For departments like PPD they have officers from other agencies waiting in line to transfer over.
It is not semantics, two completely different meanings. Like I said, I think they know who they are looking for since it was a domestic dispute so they don’t “need” the publics help, but if you have any evidence that will help their case they would love to hear from you (video anyone).
I do not have any inside information, I did work for a very large law enforcement agency for over 30 years so I know how the system works.
