Let see we condemn China, Egypt and others for cutting off access to the internet and phones and we are ok with this? I think we need a bit more outrage over BART idiots becoming facists.

BART should turn off their entire cell connect system. There no law that says they need to provide cell service. They do it as a convenience to it's customers...if it's abused...turn it off.

I agree with Julia. Bart is not required to provide cell service within their system. The ACLU should butt out!

I agree with Julia also. What kind of 'stink" would have been raised if BART had done nothing and more uncalled violence by the so-called peaceful demonstrators had occurred?

The facists are alive and not so well in lots of our communities. Wonderful.

BART can do whatever they want on THEIR property. That cell phone services is there for a convenience to it's customers. What did people do before cell phones? There have been many protests throughout history that had no cell phones.

Rick--are you an a fellow anarchist or just a contrarian to common sense?
It's illegal to conduct any organized protest on the BART platforms. Cell phone coverage underground is enabled by BART providing repeater infrastructure that allows coverage in their stations. The illegal protests were being coordinated via cell messaging.
By disabling the repeaters, BART prevented an illegal gathering from reaching it's disruptive and potentially violent conclusion. It's more of a public safety issue than your attempt to make this into an 1st amendment case.
To compare the inconvenience to those brats on the BART platform to the people in real danger in Egypt shows a complete lack of understanding of the severity of the issues outside of this country.

Steve we are still acting like a police state. Just one little step towards the same thing. We have even made protests illegal. LOL
There are always excuses as to why others want control. Happens all the time with everything from, we are already beyond Orwellian control of our lives. And yes I will be moving when I retire from this city, county, state and maybe even country. Freedom is dead.

Sorry to hear that, Rick. I don't see things as being that bad and certainly don't see living in another country as being a step up in terms of the amount of personal freedom. Imagine trying to protest in China, Venezuela, Russia, Somalia, etc.
We don't have it so bad, although there has been some erosion or more likely a revision of our Constitutional rights, but then the founding fathers never had to deal with suicide bombers.

Who is violating somebody else's right to free speech? Is that an issue in this mess?
