No matter what happens in the rest of Aadyn Prado’s life, there is one thing no one can ever take away.
Prado, a 16-year-old junior baseball player at Emerald High in Dublin, hit the first home run ever for an Emerald athlete at the Fallon Sports Park on March 3.
Fallon is the home field for Emerald, as the school does not have available space for a baseball field. Located down the street from the high school, Fallon is also the home of the Dublin Leprechauns professional baseball team.
Emerald is in its second season of baseball for the school, with the monumental hit coming against Bradshaw Christian when Prado blasted the homer over the 315-sign.
He finished the day 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
EBAL softball
One week into the East Bay Athletic League season is all it took to know it’s going to be a contentious league this season.
Carondelet is the team to beat this point as they have jumped out to a 6-1 overall start, with a 2-0 mark in EBAL play. The lone loss this year is to Clayton Valley, a team that has beat Amador, San Ramon Valley and Foothill this year.
California did beat Clayton Valley, but the Grizzlies were knocked off last week by a 7-3 final to San Ramon Valley. Cal stands 4-2 overall and 1-1 in league.
San Ramon Valley got the convincing win over Cal, but the Wolves did fall to Carondelet in an early EBAL game by a 5-3 final. The Wolves stand 5-3 overall and are 2-1 in league.
Livermore has been steady as always and sent a message with a 11-1 win over a good Foothill team in the opening EBAL game. The Cowboys started 6-1, with the lone loss coming in a 4-3 game with Alameda. SRV beat Alameda 6-2 this year.
The Cowboys are at Amador on Tuesday in what promises
Granada is strong as usual and is 2-0 to start league, beating Foothill and Dublin. The Mats are 5-2 overall with losses to Tracy and Liberty. Liberty is 6-0 with wins over Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley.
A pair of big games await the Mats this week as they are at San Ramon Valley on Tuesday, then they host Amador Valley on Thursday.
Amador Valley and Foothill can step up and play with any team, but they have also had their struggles at times.
The Dons are 4-3-1 but don’t have a bad loss, falling to Tracy (8-0 this season), Castro Valley and Clayton Valley. The Dons got a 7-6 win over Dublin to start league.
Amador faces the Livermore schools this week, hosting Livermore on Tuesday, then at Granada on Thursday.
The Falcons came into league at 6-2 then lost 11-1 to Livermore and 9-0 to Granada opening week.
EBAL boys’ volleyball
Always tough sledding in this league – and this year is no exception.
Dublin is a program that has been able to beat anyone and has done just that this year, starting the season 10-1 overall with the lone loss a 2-1 decision in a tournament to College Park.
The Gaels are 3-0 in league, beating Monte Vista (3-1), Amador Valley (3-0) and California (3-0).
De La Salle is off to a 4-0 start in league, including a big win over Livermore last week after losing to the Cowboys in a tournament the previous weekend.
The Spartans have a huge week ahead, facing the always-solid Foothill on Tuesday, then facing Dublin on Thursday. Both games are on the road.
Livermore is 16-4 overall but just 2-2 in league, falling 3-2 to both De La Salle and San Ramon Valley. Things don’t get any easier as the Cowboys face Dublin on Tuesday.
Foothill is 8-5 overall but has been playing better as of late, beating Granada and Monte Vista last week.
The Falcons have De La Salle and Amador Valley this week.
Granada has been solid overall, going 13-5 but the Mats are 2-3 in EBAL play losing to Foothill, San Ramon Valley and De La Salle.
San Ramon Valley is just 8-6 overall but has jumped out to a 3-0 mark in league with wins over Livermore, Cal and Granada.
