Historic day for Emerald

No matter what happens in the rest of Aadyn Prado’s life, there is one thing no one can ever take away.
Prado, a 16-year-old junior baseball player at Emerald High in Dublin, hit the first home run for an Emerald athlete at the Fallon Sports Park on March 3.
Fallon is the home field for Emerald as the school does not have available space for a baseball field. Located down the street from the high school, the park is also the home of the Dublin Leprechauns professional baseball team.
Emerald is in its second season of baseball for the school, with the monumental hit coming against Bradshaw Christian when Prado blasted the homer over the 315-sign.
He finished the day 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
Results needed
If you are reading this column and wondering where the results for your child’s team are, then we could use your help each week.
The results we get each week are the result of a coach or a volunteer for a specific team turning in the results.
It takes no more than 15-20 minutes a week to get the results into us by our noon deadline each Sunday. Of course, you can send in the results before Sunday but that is the deadline.
It can be as simple as letting us know the sport, who you played, the result and the highlights for the game or match. This works great for baseball, softball and volleyball.
For sports like tennis and badminton, just take a picture of the score sheet and send it to me. Also include a roster of the team so I can make sure to get the names right.
Sports with many athletes, like swimming and track-and-field, give me the final score of the meet, as well as highlights like multiple event winners, records or personal best marks and any other highlights like winning performance late in the meet that gave the team the victory.
We are always looking for pictures to run with a story as well. Our requirements are that a photo can’t be taken by another news agency, we need the identification of your athletes, as well as who took the picture.
If you have any questions regarding turning in results for your athlete’s team, please contact me at acesmag@aol.com. Let’s get the kids the coverage they deserve.
Editor’s note: Dennis Miller is a contributing sports writer for Embarcadero Media Foundation’s East Bay Division. To contact him about his Pleasanton Preps column, email acesmag@aol.com.
