The North Coast Section water polo playoffs begin this week – and as usual, the East Bay Athletic League is well-represented.
This year, there are 13 EBAL teams between the boys and girls taking part in the two-week tournament.
Starting with the boys’ Open Division, De La Salle was seeded No. 3 and San Ramon Valley No. 4.
The Spartans open play on Saturday (Nov. 8) at No. 2 Campolindo, while the Wolves will open with top-seeded Miramonte the same day.
The boys’ Division I playoffs feature three EBAL teams in Monte Vista (5), Amador Valley (14) and California (15).
Play opens Thursday (Nov. 6) with Monte Vista facing Clayton Valley (12) at Las Lomas at 6:30 p.m. California will play Northgate (2) at Las Lomas at 4 p.m., and Amador faces Alameda (3) at San Leandro in a 4:45 p.m. match.
The second round of the tournament takes place on Saturday, with the semifinals set for Nov. 12 and the championship match on Nov. 15.
In D-II play, Granada (2) and Dublin (13) will represent the league.
The first round takes place Wednesday (Nov. 5) with Granada hosting Alhambra (15) at 6 p.m. and Dublin facing Cardinal Newman (4) at Amador Valley in a 7:15 p.m. game.
The quarterfinals are Saturday, with the semifinals on Nov. 12, and the title match on Nov. 15.
On the girls’ side, San Ramon Valley (1) and Monte Vista (6) are the EBAL reps in the D-I tournament.
SRV will host Mission San Jose (16) on Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Monte Vista will face San Marin (11), also at San Ramon Valley in a 3:45 p.m. game.

In the girls’ D-II event, the EBAL is represented by Amador Valley (1), Foothill (2), California (5) and Dublin (6).
All four play Wednesday (Nov. 5).
Amador (1) will host Irvington (16) in a 4:45 p.m. game., with Foothill taking on Cardinal Newman (15) also at Amador at 6 p.m. Cal will face Pittsburg (12) at Granada at 7:15 p.m., and Dublin face Heritage (11) at the Dublin Wave at 4:15 p.m.
The quarterfinals are Saturday, with the semifinals on Nov. 12. The championship match is Nov. 15.
NCS girls’ volleyball
Play is down to the semifinals, with three EBAL teams still alive.
In the Open tournament, San Ramon Valley will travel to James Logan in the drop-down bracket at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
In D-I play, Monte Vista will host Windsor and Berkeley is at Carondelet, with both matches set for 7 p.m.
The finals are set for Saturday.
NCS flag football
There are three EBAL teams left standing in the tournament. Granada is at Las Lomas in one semifinal, while San Ramon Valley is at California in an all-EBAL semifinal. Both games are set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The winners will play for an NCS title on Thursday.
EBAL football
The final week of the EBAL season is set for Friday.
In Mountain Division play, Amador – a big 35-14 winner over Monte Vista last week – will close at California, a team that lost 34-13 to Monte Vista two weeks ago.
Monte Vista will make the trip down Stone Valley Road to face San Ramon Valley in the battle of Danville.
If Amador beats California, the Dons will tie the winner of the SRV-MV game at 2-1 in the Mountain.
On the Valley side, the game of the night is Granada at Livermore. A Granada win would see the Mats, Livermore and Dublin all finish at 2-1 – with Foothill, who hosts Redwood Christian on Friday, at 0-3.
