Both the Foothill Falcons and Amador Valley Dons remained undefeated after last weekendís battles against ranked teams. Amador defeated Hayward 28-17. Prior to the loss, Hayward was ranked 11th in the state according to MaxPreps.com. Amador, although overmatched 368-314, used a balanced attack that saw Brett Lewis score two touchdowns, one on a 30-yard reception and the other on a 90-yard interception return.

Senior Wes Garwood had two touchdown passes; one to Lewis and the other to Nick Vuoto while Adam Howe added a 23-yard TD run. Amador Valley (0-0 in league, 4-0 overall) travels to Livermore to take on Livermore High School (0-1, 1-3) this week.

Foothill jumped to a 21-7 halftime lead and held off a furious Monte Vista comeback attempt to come away with a 28-21 win over the Mustangs. Foothill played long ball with TD passes of 45 yards to Austin Day and 85 yards to Ryan Thiege from quarterback Josh Mendonca. The Falcons also scored on a 3-yard run by Rob Andrews and a 35-yard interception return from Jordan Johnson. This week Foothill (4-0, 1-0) also travels to Livermore to take on Granada High School (0-1, 1-3).

Phantom Wins NSA Fall Parade Tournament

The Phantom 12 and under traveling softball team took 1st in the NSA Fall Parade tournament in Tracy last weekend. Phantom beat the Elk Grove Fire and Ice in the Championship game 11-0. Leading the team pitching was Katie Mannion throwing a seven-strikeout no-hitter for the win. Mannion was supported by a 12-hit attack and strong defense in the championship game. The Phantom defeated the host Tracy Titans 8-3 in the semi-final and also had victories against the Union City Twisters, Lodi Lady Lightning, Union City Twisters, and Bobcats of Paradise Green during the tournament.

Amador Lady Don Linksters Defeat Foothill

The Lady Don Linksters finished the first half of the Fall season undefeated and alone in first place with a 216-246 win over the rival Foothill Falcons. Lauren Oh led the way with a 38 followed by Joi Pentin’s 43. Kamille Laffins shot a 44, Kelly McKeehan a 45 and Arielle Chong a 46 to post the team’s 6th consecutive score under 220.
