A motorist was placed under arrest for driving under the influence Sunday near downtown Pleasanton after police said they were at fault for a multi-car collision that caused significant traffic that day.
Pleasanton Police Department Lt. Nicholas Albert told the Weekly that officers responded to the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Sunol Boulevard, and found five vehicles that were involved.
“The investigating officer determined the driver who caused the collision showed signs of impairment,” Albert said. That driver was consequently arrested.
The other drivers and involved parties only reported minor injuries, according to Albert. Eastbound traffic on Bernal Avenue was impacted for roughly one hour due to the crash, he said.
This incident came one day after a Pleasanton police officer and a civilian driver were injured when a patrol vehicle and another car collided near downtown.
