Welcome to the Playbook!
It is time for another week of the 2025-26 prep sports year! The Playbook takes you inside the East Bay Athletic League, writing about outlooks, updates and insights into all the sports, along with profiles of athletes, and opinions regarding controversial issues in high school sport!
The Big Picture is all about postseason action for our EBAL athletes! There’s state swimming, the NCS lacrosse action, and the upcoming NCS baseball and softball tournaments.
EBAL Power Rankings we have baseball and softball, and the rankings remain the same heading into the postseason!
What to Watch has the NCS baseball and softball rankings for week one of the tournaments.
Fast Five lets you get to know Amador swimmer Alexis Thompson. I know I can’t argue with her favorite show/movie!
If you know of a great story or have any questions, please reach out either by email at acesgolf@aol.com or by phone at 925-200-0719.
From the sidelines,
Dennis Miller, Playbook Editor

Pleasanton Preps: Wrestling returns to middle schools
I have always been a big fan of wrestling, although never having participated in wrestling. It’s one-on-one on the mat with everyone watching – no place to hide and no excuses. You win or lose based on your performance. A character builder of the highest level. When the sport went away from the local middle schools…

We interview high school athletes and coaches all the time. Occasionally we ask them questions that have nothing to do with sports. Here’s one:
Name: Alexis Thompson
School and grade: Amador Valley (freshman)
Sport: Swimming
Favorite streaming channel and favorite show: Disney+ / “Top Gun Maverick”
Favorite genre music and favorite performer: Country / Coldplay
Who is a must follow on social media: dgmindset (Derick Grant)
Favorite fast-food restaurant and meal: In-N-Out / Double-Double, fries, chocolate shake
Favorite quote: “In a field of Roses be a WILDFLOWER – Be Built Different.”
