The city of Pleasanton recently finished construction of a new parking lot located right next to the renovated Lions Wayside Park, according to a city newsletter.
The lot, which offers 24 new parking spaces, is located adjacent to the new bandstand at the park and the Firehouse Arts Center, providing additional free parking within downtown Pleasanton.
“Its opening comes at an ideal moment, giving residents and visitors added convenience as the holiday season gets underway,” the city stated in the Dec. 3 e-newsletter. “The project also reflects the City’s ongoing investment in a vibrant, accessible downtown — one that supports local businesses and enhances the overall experience for anyone spending time in the area.”
According to city communications manager Heather Tiernan, the new parking lot was paid for with surplus funding the city had from the renovation of the Lions Wayside and Delucchi parks. The overall parks renovation project was funded by development fees that were specifically earmarked to be spent on the parks.
The total cost of the new parking lot was about $240,000 and the money helped cover expenses including the new lot, landscaping and a new turf that was installed by the Firehouse Arts Center, according to Tiernan.
