Recipients must have a strong record of civic engagement and have demonstrated exceptional character by modeling the traits of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity and self-discipline.

Awards will be presented to one student from each of Pleasanton's three high schools. Currently applications are being taken from students at Amador Valley and Foothill high schools with a deadline of Feb. 1. Village High applications will be due later. More information and applications are at www.CommunityofCharacter.org.

Selections will be announced approximately one month after the deadline.

Information on making donations to increase the scholarship fund is also available on the website.
