A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15 for Terri Carlson, a longtime Pleasanton businesswoman and owner of Milfleur, a unique home decor and antiques store at 200 Ray St. in downtown
Mrs. Carlson died last Monday with her husband Rick Hutto and daughter Sierra Hutto at her side after having suffered a severe stroke March 12. She was 60 years old.
The memorial service will be held at Milfleur with pastor Ray Alsdorf of Blue Oaks Church and Carlson’s husband Rick speaking.
The family is asking that those attending the service wear purple or bright colors, since those were Carlson’s favorites. Also, those who have photos of her should bring them along to share in a photo display. Cabana Dave’s will have its food truck outside the Milfleur store.
Those wishing to donate in Carlson’s name are welcome to do so at the service. Checks should be made out to Rich Hutto.
Carlson had moved her store back into the historic 166-year-old Kottinger Barn on Ray Street in January from a second location she had opened on Main Street. Hers was a “yard and barn finds” shop that earned Milfleur Pleasanton Weekly Readers’ Choice awards in two categories last year.
Carlson has been a businesswoman and supporter of the community since 1979 when she opened her first design studio and shop in Pleasanton, called Mother Nature, in Mission Plaza She was also known for her donations to local charities and the countless fundraisers for organizations such as Paws in Need, Open Heart Kitchen and the Amador Valley High School PTSA.

Terri was a truly wonderful spirit – we will greatly miss her.
Note: Parking at Milfleur is very limited, so please car-pool.
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Terri years ago at the Kottinger Barn store. She told us about the ghosts in the Kottinger Barn location and how she was clairvoyant and had seen and heard things. She went on to tell my husband she saw something in him from his past. She said in the 1700s he lived in Scotland or Ireland and sold fruit from a cart. At the end of the day she said he would give the remaining fruit to the poor. Whether true or not and whether clairvoyant or not, it was a great story and it did sound like something my sweet husband would do. I did not know here outside of the one visit, but from that visit she seemed kind and real. She will be missed.
Such a kind and warm soul. Always loved shopping in her store. She will be missed.
And to her family, I am very sorry for your loss.
So many of us are already missing Terri, her smiles and hugs, and her ability to “Lift the Spirits” of those who walked through her door at Milfleur. She was very much a positive influence in Pleasanton. A loss for us, but a Sparkling Addition to Heaven ~ She is dearly missed.
Terry was a warm and caring person who was also a talented artist. I have memories of coming by her shop late to brow for a gift and often leaving much later than closing time because Terri had so many uplifting observations and stories to share. Milfleur was like a respite for me! The several silk floral arrangements and Xmas decorations she artfully designed for me over the years will always remind me of when I left Milfleur happier than when I came in because of her! I will miss Terri.
I visited Milfleur often to visit with Teri and to shop. I originally met her at the Mother Natures shop. I always admired her design and her visual eye, she was a very talented person. I loved visiting at the barn and would always look for her. I know that Terri is now surrounded by her angels. I will miss her greatly and wish to extend my sorrow to the family for her loss. She was inspiring to me! This is a huge loss for the Pleasanton community as well.
I could always feel when it “was time” for me to pop in and visit with Terry for some Soul Realignment. No matter what I was feeling before I saw her…..I felt rejuvenated, inspired, hopeful and had the energy to conquer the world by the time our visit was over. I have the most beautiful large painting on my wall that she created and will cherish it forever. Terry was my neighbor at one point, my spiritual advisor, my mentor and most of of all my dear friend. Heavens newest Angel will be greatly missed. To her family, I am so very deeply sorry for your loss.
I walked into Milfleur, and looked for Terri, she was nowhere to be found. I thought It was odd that the displays of beautiful things to buy was scarce. I turned around and noticed the sign that Terri had passed away. I was in shock and felt the tears well up in my eyes. I had not heard of Terri’s passing and am deeply saddened by the loss of an amazing woman. I’d shopped in her stores for many years and every time I came into her store we would have wonderful conversations. The last thing she did for me was decorate a large metal heart which had angel wings attached. It was to be hung on a wall at my daughter wedding. My daughter calls her husband Angel and when I saw the metal heart I knew Terri would be the person to decorate it for me. When I picked it up from Terri, it had of course turned out beautifully. Terri commented that perhaps it had not turned out to her liking. To me though it was beautifully done. It seems quite fitting that she was the one to decorate a heart with large angels wings. To me she was an Earth Angel with large wings. I feel blessed to have had met such a lovely person, I will truly miss her.♥️ Blessings to her family
