Think you have a perfect palate for fine food and wine? Join a master sommelier and wine writers in tasting the Tri-Valley’s finest at the Taste of Terroir.

The event, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Palm Event Center, 1184 Vineyard Ave., will bring 16 of the region’s wineries and their restaurant partners together in a competition to win Most Innovative Pairing, Best Expression of Local Ingredients and Judges’ Best.

Chef Alex Olson (pictured) of Palm Event Center prepared duck bratwurst dish paired with 2004 “Fat Boy” cabernet sauvignon from McGrail Vineyard, which won the People’s Choice Award and Outstanding Dish last year.

Tickets for Taste of Terroir are $75, and the event typically sells out. Proceeds will benefit the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association. For tickets and information, visit www.lvwine.org.
