Police arrested a Pleasanton man on suspicion of committing matricide after he allegedly showed up at the police station Tuesday and said he killed his 71-year-old mother during a dispute.

Officers immediately went to the house after receiving the report around 4:45 p.m. and located a dead person with multiple knife wounds at the scene in the 4000 block of Alvarado Street, according to Pleasanton police Lt. The man, identified by police as 31-year-old Malcolm Tilley, was booked into the Santa Rita Jail. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

“According to department records, there are no prior incidents at the residence,” Albert said in a press release issued late Wednesday afternoon. “This is an active investigation, and our detectives are working to gather additional details.”
