CD14 election forum

The Pleasanton Weekly and Livermore Vine are hosting a candidate forum for Congressional District 14 next weekend, moderated by publisher Gina Channell Wilcox and associate publisher-editorial director Jeremy Walsh.

All nine candidates on the primary election ballot were invited, and seven have confirmed their participation: Aisha Wahab, Melissa Hernandez, Wendy Huang, Matt Ortega, Carin Elam, Rakhi Israni and Dena Maldonado.

The Zoom-based forum will be livestreamed from 4-6 p.m. next Sunday (April 12), and a videorecording will be posted on the Weekly and Vine websites and YouTube pages afterward. Suggest questions for the candidates by filling out the Google Form online

Supporting the forum are organizing partner Livermore Indivisible and promotion partners Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The top two candidates, regardless of political party, in the June primary will advance to a runoff in the general election in November to succeed U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Livermore), who is running for governor of California.

Bunny Hop Hunt

The Pleasanton Downtown Association is hosting its annual Bunny Hop Scavenger Hunt this Saturday (April 4) at the Museum on Main in downtown Pleasanton.

During the family-friendly event, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon, participants will pick up a scavenger hunt map under the Pleasanton Variety store sign before heading off to find the listed goodies scattered throughout downtown.

Free photos with the downtown Easter bunny will also be available in front of the museum.

LAVTA committee

The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, the organization that operates the Wheels bus system and the paratransit services in the Tri-Valley, is currently seeking applications for members to serve on its Tri-Valley Accessible Advisory Committee.

The organization is looking for one member and one alternate to represent the cities of Livermore, Dublin, and Pleasanton as well as unincorporated Alameda County and Tri-Valley social and human services agencies. According to LATVA, committee members will help advise LATVA staff on “accessibility issues facing senior and disabled residents on fixed route buses and Dial-A-Ride paratransit services”.

Prospective committee members must reside in the city they are looking to represent and must be able to meet during regular business hours. For more information and to request an application, visit www.wheelsbus.com. Applications will be due by April 27.

Brannigan Street reopens

Brannigan Street in Dublin has officially reopened to two-way traffic after the city temporarily closed it off to install utilities and make some roadway improvements near the Dublin Centre development, city officials said Tuesday.

The temporary closure, which started on Feb. 2, had shut down southbound Brannigan Street between Gleason Drive and Dublin Boulevard. Northbound traffic remained open throughout the last two months of construction.

“The roadway is now fully open in both directions,” according to a press release from the city of Dublin. “Temporary striping is in place, and on-street parking has resumed on both sides of the street. Overflow parking at Fallon Middle School is no longer offered.”

Spring Eggstravaganza

The city of Dublin will be hosting its annual Spring Eggstravaganza this Saturday (April 4) at the Dublin Heritage Park and Museums.

The family-friendly event will feature egg hunts, crafts, entertainment and photo opportunities with the bunny characters known as Peter Rabbit and Flopsy. The two egg hunts during each of the three sessions throughout the day will include “one all-levels, non-competitive hunt and one countdown-style hunt”.

The event will run three times throughout the day: once at 9 a.m., another at 10:15 a.m. and lastly one at 11:30 a.m. Tickets will be required for children to participate in the egg hunts and activities.

On-site registration will not be available. For tickets and more information, visit www.dublin.ca.gov.
