Women in Business
The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance, in partnership with Visit Tri-Valley and the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the third annual Women in Business Symposium next Wednesday (March 25) at the Livermore Bankhead Theater.
The event, which encourages both women and men to attend, will bring together some of the Tri-Valley’s “most accomplished women leaders for meaningful connection and practical insight”.
“Whether you are growing your career, leading an organization, or exploring new opportunities, this event is designed to spark ideas, expand networks, and celebrate leadership across sectors,” according to a TVNA newsletter.
Tickets cost $60 for the event. For more information, visit www.tvnpa.org.
Pickleball event
Goodness Village, a nonprofit that supports unhoused individuals in the Tri-Valley by offering tiny homes in a community in Livermore, will be hosting a pickleball tournament next Saturday (March 28) in order to raise money for the organization’s ongoing work.
According to the nonprofit, the tournament will cost $50 per person and is open to all skill levels.
“Exact format is dictated by attendance with expectations (of) having round-robin match play followed by bracket play for all participants,” according to the event description.
The event will take place at Livermore’s May Nissen Park, located at 685 Rincon Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.gvlivermore.org for more information and to purchase tickets.
Spring book sale
Thousands of affordable books, DVDs, CDs, vinyls, games and other donated items will be up for grabs during the Friends of the Pleasanton Library’s Spring Book and Media Sale, which takes place at the Pleasanton Public Library from March 25-28.
“Each sale raises nearly $15,000 to fund important library programs, services, and special community needs,” the organization stated. “Every purchase directly supports resources that benefit residents throughout the Tri-Valley.”
The event begins Wednesday with member early access at 11 a.m. The public sale starts at 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Saturday the final shopping hours are 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a “Fill-a-Bag Sale” from 1 to 3 p.m.
Dublin Distance Fiesta
Dublin High School is hosting the 17th annual Dublin Distance Fiesta, one of the top high school distance-running events in the country and the largest distance-only meet in the county by participation, this weekend.
Starting on Friday (March 21), the national showcase for elite distance runners will feature nearly 250 high schools from California and Nevada, over 4,200 student athletes and over 6,000 race entries. Athletes will compete in several different races and relays across the two-day competition in Dublin.
“The meet regularly draws top distance runners from across the West Coast and serves as a proving ground for athletes preparing for championship-level competitions later in the season,” said Chip Dehnert, Dublin Unified School District’s director of communication.
In addition to the high school competition, the event will also feature the Dublin Distance Fiesta Middle School Mile Exhibition on Friday, which gives younger students from across the Tri-valley a chance to compete.
New DSRSD website
The Dublin San Ramon Services District launched a new website that the water provider says will make it easier for customers to “quickly find information and access services”.
“Our website is often the first place DSRSD customers go for information,” DSRSD General Manager Jan Lee said in a press release. “This upgrade makes it easier for customers to connect with us and find what they need quickly.”
According to the press release, the newly-designed website was modernized and simplified in several ways. One of the updates is that the website is now structured to better serve different DSRSD customer types such as residential, businesses and contractors. The website also improved its accessibility and its mobile layout to make it easier for all customers to navigate.
