85th (and final?) Rose Show
Apt for Mother’s Day weekend, the 85th annual Pleasanton Rose Show is set for Saturday at the Senior Center — and it could well be the last time for the spring tradition.
Real estate firm Compass and the Pleasanton city government have teamed up to present the event for the past 16 years, but the partnership is ending after the 2025 show.
“We are deeply grateful to all the volunteers, sponsors, and participants whose dedication has been the cornerstone of the event’s success,” organizers said. “While our team will no longer be planning the Rose Show, we are hopeful that this tradition will continue under new leadership. If you are interested in spearheading the event moving forward, please reach out.”
The Rose Show is set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday (May 10) at the Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd. Exhibitor registration runs from 8-10 a.m. Visit pleasantonroseshow.com.
Downtown Wine Stroll
The Pleasanton Downtown Association is holding its annual Summer Wine Stroll this Saturday from 5-8 p.m.
Billed as “a beautiful evening in downtown Pleasanton sampling wine and strolling while musicians perform live music throughout Main Street”, the event will include tastings of Livermore Valley wines at 18 locations downtown.

Prescribed burn at LLNL Site 300
The Alameda County Fire Department is scheduled to conduct a prescribed burn at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Site 300 experimental test site south of Tracy beginning next week.
“The process for this protective activity will involve careful burning along the site fence line and in portions of the site interior under controlled conditions,” LLNL officials said. “The burn schedule is heavily dependent on appropriate weather conditions, which are confirmed by air district meteorologists on the day of a planned burn.”
AVQ Fabric Sale
The Amador Valley Quilters are hosting their annual Fabric Sale fundraiser this Saturday from 1:45-4:45 p.m. at Pleasanton Middle School.
“This one-day event is a treasure trove for anyone who loves sewing, quilting or creating … the perfect opportunity to stock up for your next masterpiece,” organizers said. Items will include yarn, notions, batting, quilt kits, UFOs (unfinished objects) and patterns. Learn more at amadorvalleyquilters.org.
Livermore Valley Craft Beer Festival
The ninth annual Livermore Valley Craft Beer Festival is set for this Saturday afternoon at the Las Positas College athletic field in Livermore.
“Craft beer lovers, foodies and live music fans, we are back and bigger than ever in 2025!” organizers said on the event webpage. “We’ll be featuring some of your favorite NorCal breweries taking part, with local favorite food vendors, four great live bands, games, lots of shaded areas and demonstrations by our firefighting students — not to mention a great view of the Livermore Valley.”
Put on by the Livermore Valley Craft Beer Foundation and benefiting the community college’s fire service technology program, the festival runs from 1-5 p.m. For more information, go to https://lvcbf.com/beer-festival.
‘Legends of Realism’
This marks the second and final weekend of Las Positas College’s theater arts department’s spring production of “Legends of Realism” — and the shows this Saturday and Sunday are being performed at the historic Tao House in Danville.
Produced as a partnership among the college, the Eugene O’Neill Foundation and the National Park Service, the show is a collection of three one-act plays accompanied by musical interludes: “Thirst” by O’Neill, “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell and “The Bear” by Anton Chekhov.
“The production explores gripping themes through three distinct settings: an abandoned raft drifting in shark-infested waters, a lonely farmhouse hiding dark secrets, and a battle of wills between two impassioned lovers in a Russian drawing room,” according to a press release from Las Positas.
After last weekend’s opening run at the college’s Mertes Center for the Arts Black Box Theater, this weekend’s performances are set for 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Tao House, O’Neill’s former home in the Danville hills. Learn more at lpc.ludus.com.
