One of the few places in the Tri-Valley to purchase guns, ammunition and shooting accessories – or even buy fishing equipment, for that matter – is shutting its doors in the coming weeks.

The owners of Guns, Fishing & Other Stuff announced during the holiday shopping season that they would be closing the store and gun range on Amador Plaza Road in the new year. A firm date has not been confirmed, but the store is set to be open until ample inventory is sold out.

“It’s true! We’re closing. It’s been our pleasure to serve you. But it’s time to retire! Be happy with us,” ownership said in a post on Facebook on Dec. 13. “And come out beginning Wednesday for great deals in every department. We sure hope to see you before we’re through!”

The news came about half a year after its sister Guns, Fishing & Other Stuff store closed in Vacaville.

Store ownership did not respond to requests for comment this month, nor did representatives of the property management firm about future plans for the large retail space located prominently at 6705 Amador Plaza Road just below the Dublin Boulevard off-ramp from southbound Interstate 680.

Billed as a local family-owned sporting goods store, Guns, Fishing & Other Stuff specialized in firearms and related items, hunting accessories and fishing equipment. It also housed an indoor public gun range – a rarity in the Bay Area – with Trygon Firearms Training offering classes and education for shooters of all skill levels.

  1. The indoor range was packed with people every weekend. I also suspect that the owner may have grown tired of fighting the annual onslaught of new state regulations that aim to bankrupt these businesses. Its difficult for the state to understand “…shall not be infringed…”.

  2. Pleasanton had “Outdoor World” back in the mid 1990s. They also sold guns/ammunition and were regulated out of business by Ben Tarver and the city council – for doing nothing wrong.

See what the current municipal code says if someone wants to operate a gun shop in the city now. It’s a bureaucratic/cost prohibitive nightmare – basically a gun shop ban. Do not trust the so called “gun safety” movement. It’s not going to be considered “safe” until the legal process to own/use guns is completely shut down.
