Our Savior Lutheran Ministries, a Missouri Synod Lutheran church that serves Livermore and Pleasanton, and the church where I am a member, has named the Rev. Dr. Kevin Austin as its new senior pastor.
Austin is pictured above with wife Aldebaran and their two children, Hannah, 14, and George, 10.
Austin most recently was pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rancho Cucamonga, a position he has held since 2007.
Our Savior and its pre-kindergarten to 8th grade school are located at 1385 S. Livermore Ave., near the Livermore Civic Center and library.
Austin, 37, will begin his duties at Our Savior Sunday, Aug. 26., at the 9 a.m. service. He will officially be installed at a special 4 p.m. service Sept. 9. Pastors from neighboring congregations as well as representatives of the Lutherans’ California/Nevada/Hawaii Missouri Synod District will be at the installation service and the reception that will follow.
Austin is a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, Ill. He undertook advanced studies at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and last year received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, near Los Angeles.
