The Contra Costa Community Warning System gave the “All Clear” for the wildfire in Morgan Territory on the east side of Mount Diablo after firefighters announced Saturday morning that forward progress has officially stopped.
According to Cal Fire, the containment on the 51-acre Morgan Fire reached 30% as of 9:19 a.m. Saturday (July 19).
Although normal activities have resumed, firefighters encourage motorists and citizens to drive with caution and stay alert when passing through the area. Emergency personnel and crews are still actively working throughout the day, Cal Fire said.
Crews led by Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire began battling the blaze on Friday after it broke out in the area of Marsh Creek and Morgan Territory roads on the edge of the San Ramon Valley.
The initial report Friday afternoon indicated the fire was 125 acres, but Cal Fire announced a couple of hours later that better mapping showed the size was closer to 50 acres.
County officials issued an evacuation warning on Friday for residents between Morgan Territory State Park and Mount Diablo State Park (also known as zones CCC-249 and CCC-250), and fire crews had 0% containment as of Friday evening.

But conditions improved overnight during the cool summer eve, with firefighters fully stopping forward progress and making headway on containment by Saturday morning.
