“Cruisin’ On Main Street” is the theme of this year’s fundraising gala for Tri-Valley REACH later this summer at McGrail Vineyards in Livermore Valley wine country.
The annual REACH for Your Dreams event comes at a crucial time for the nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable housing, enrichment programs and social connection for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Tri-Valley.
“The demand for affordable, sustainable housing for adults with I/DD has never been greater, but at Tri-Valley REACH our mission extends well beyond housing. We are committed to creating opportunities for independence, recreation and community connection, ensuring that individuals with I/DD can thrive,” board secretary Carolyn Zalewski told the Pleasanton Weekly.
“As a parent of an adult child with I/DD, I’ve seen firsthand how REACH-sponsored programs foster friendships, build confidence and create joy,” she said. “Whether it’s through sports, the arts, or social events, REACH is making a positive difference in lives every single day. For that, our family and so many others are grateful.”
The outdoor dinner event, scheduled for the evening of Sept. 9, raises critical funding and awareness for the organization, according to vice chair Sharon Almeida. In addition to ongoing maintenance and other costs for its established properties, one new project that will benefit is Tri-Valley REACH’s second accessory dwelling unit under construction in Pleasanton, set to offer another independent living opportunity for two more people.
“It’s a wonderful, heartwarming evening that brings together residents, families, community leaders and generous donors that care about building an inclusive community that supports individuals that are often overlooked,” Almeida said. “Hearing directly from the people Tri-Valley REACH supports is so inspiring.”
