The Amador Valley boys’ varsity soccer team’s seven-game winning streak came to a halt last week as the Dons dropped three consecutive matches, all by a score of 2-1.
Facing a gauntlet of opponents — Granada, San Ramon Valley and Berkeley — starting Jan. 13, the Dons remained competitive throughout. Goals from Atishay Sati, Nader Hanna and Mateo Eichler kept Amador in the hunt, but they were unable to overcome bursts of back-to-back goals from their opponents in each contest.
The junior varsity team finished the week with a 1-0 loss to Granada, a 2-2 tie with San Ramon Valley and a 4-1 loss to Berkeley.
Against San Ramon Valley, goals from Kingston Smith and Oliver Heid gave Amador a 2-1 lead late into the match. However, heartbreak struck in the final moments when the Wolves converted a penalty kick to force a 2-2 draw.
The freshmen team took the lone win for the program with a 2-1 victory against Granada. Later in the week they fell to San Ramon Valley.

Amador girls’ soccer
The Dons got a big 2-1 win over Granada on Jan. 13.
Leena Khan jumped on the rebounded shot by Hayden Moe to open the scoring in the first half and give Amador a 1-0 lead.
In the second half the Dons made it 2-0 when Penny Brown scored off of a Mira Giruda corner.
The Matadors got one back in the final minutes of the game when their goalie came up to add extra numbers and knocked in a goal on Granada’s first corner kick of the match.
