The Student-Athlete Community Foundation, founded by former Foothill High basketball player Anirudh Murugesan, is an organization that empowers student-athletes to become community leaders by combining mentorship with student-led service projects.

De La Salle kept the Spartans unbeaten East Bay Athletic League season alive with a pair of big wins over Dougherty Valley and Dublin.

The week started with a 75-66 win over Dougherty, then a 53-43 win over Dublin. The grinder of a week for DLS moved the Spartans to 3-0.

Monte Vista had wins at California and Foothill to keep pace with De La Salle at 3-0. On Saturday the Mustangs ended the good week with a 63-49 win over Archie Williams. The Mustangs are 14-6 overall.

I think the best week came from Amador Valley as the Dons rallied back from their opening night shocking loss to Livermore with wins over Granada (50-44) and San Ramon Valley (50-43).

Then on Saturday the Dons defeated a 16-2 Liberty team by a 46-45 final margin.

Following that big opening night win over Amador, Livermore came back last week and lost 64-62 to San Ramon Valley, then 72-49 to Dougherty Valley.

Dougherty recovered from the nine-point loss to De La Salle to come back with the convincing win over Livermore.

California had the toughest week with three losses to fall to 10-10 overall.

The Grizzlies fell 64-53 to Monte Vista, followed by 68-63 to Granada. On Saturday Cal fell 60-58 to Bishop O’Dowd in a showcase event

The one EBAL sport with little to no suspense during the regular season. After the San Ramon Valley win over Carondelet in the opening EBAL week, the Wolves should see little resistance the rest of the regular season.

Last week the Wolves beat Livermore (94-16) and Amador Valley (84-16) to move to 4-0. On Saturday the Wolves faced Mission Hills from San Marcos and dropped a 73-72 game to the hot shooting team from Southern California, dropping them to 15-3 overall.

Carondelet did not play a league game as the Cougars went to the state of Washington for some showcase games. They opened with a 67-33 win over Emerald Ridge.

Dougherty Valley (14-4) and Dublin (14-4) are in a battle for the No. 3 spot in the EBAL.

Boys’ soccer

Amador Valley had a seven-game winning streak but that came crashing down as the Dons lost all three games last week, all by 2-1 finals.

In fact, going back to their 2-1 win over Livermore to open league, the Dons have four straight games that have ended in that score.

This past week it was Granada and San Ramon Valley that beat Amador and then on Saturday, they fell to Berkeley.

Amador plays host to De La Salle on Tuesday night.

De La Salle rebounded from their 2-1 loss to San Ramon Valley on opening night to beat Dougherty Valley (2-0) and Dublin (1-0).

It is a contentious league this season as just three games into the season, there are only a pair of 3-0 teams in Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley.

The Mustangs beat Cal (8-1), then followed with a win over Foothill (3-1) to get off to the 3-0 mark.

San Ramon Valley had a 6-1 win over Livermore, followed by the 2-1 win over Amador Valley.

Girls’ soccer

California is setting the current standard of play in the EBAL as the Grizzlies are 8-1 overall and 3-0 in EBAL play. Last week the Grizzlies beat Monte Vista (3-1) and Granada (1-0).

Carondelet also sits at 3-0 with wins over Dougherty Valley (7-0) and Dublin (2-0) last week.

Amador Valley is 2-0-1 in league play with wins over Livermore and Granada. Most recently the Dons tied 0-0 against San Ramon Valley.

The big game this week will be the Tuesday night game of Amador Valley at Carondelet. That same night, San Ramon Valley plays host to California.
