Firefighters responded and fully extinguished a vegetation fire in Alameda County that caused a brief closure on Interstate 580 east of Livermore on Friday afternoon.
The fire, which was given the moniker “Grant Fire”, grew to 13 acres in an unincorporated area just off the freeway at West Grant Line Road, which connects to Altamont Pass Road.
The fire started at about 2:40 p.m. Friday and was mostly contained by 9:30 p.m.
Cal Fire issued its final report on the fire about 24 hours later, reporting that no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Cal Fire said the cause remained under investigation, but the Alameda County Fire Department stated that the incident was sparked by a vehicle fire that spread to nearby vegetation.
