A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday morning in Livermore after he crashed and then was struck by multiple vehicles, California Highway Patrol said.

Officers arrived at eastbound Interstate Highway 580 east of Airway Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m. and found a man lying in the #6 lane.

Investigators believe that the male motorcyclist was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on I-580 east of Airway Boulevard in the #5 lane when he was involved in a crash. The crash ejected the man from his motorcycle and he came to a rest in the #6 lane, but was then impacted by three other passing vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, CHP said.

Eastbound Highway 580 from Airway Boulevard to Isabel Avenue was shut down due to the crash.

Around 7:30 a.m., the freeway was confirmed to be fully reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who can provide pertinent information should please get in touch with the Dublin area CHP and speak to Officer J. Garcia at (925) 828-0466.
