Wear Orange on June 7
The third annual Wear Orange Gun Violence Prevention community event organized by Livermore Valley Moms Demand Action will take place on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Amador Valley Community Park at 4301 Black Ave. in Pleasanton.
We will gather to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and raise awareness of the actions we can take to create safer communities. Wear Orange specifically honors the memory of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year old student who was shot and killed by a stray bullet less than two weeks after performing at President Obama’s inauguration in 2013. Hadiya’s favorite color was orange, and attendees are encouraged (but not required) to wear orange.
This family-friendly event will include a brief program of speakers, a resource fair, and craft activities for children and adults. Free gun locks, information and orange snacks will be available to all. Questions? Email TSClover@aol.com.

No kings, no dungeons
June 14 will be “No Kings and No Dungeons” day in the Tri-Valley, part of a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarianism excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.
Locally, the action is also to protest against the possibility of Immigration and Customs Enforcement opening an immigrant detention center at the Federal Correctional Institute in Dublin, which has been closed since last December due to abuse and uninhabitable conditions like mold and asbestos.
Trump and his cronies have ignored the constitution over and over again with crackdowns on free speech, detaining people for their political positions, threats to deport American citizens, and defiance of the courts.
The President has done this while continuing to serve and enrich himself and his billionaire allies, and he wants to ensure this enrichment is long term by extending tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy at the expense of Americans who rely on Medicaid and safety nets like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
In what may be his most egregious display of bald faced corruption yet, he wants to accept a “gift” from Qatar of a private jet worth $400 million.
And now, as he continues to follow the authoritarian playbook, Trump is planning a taxpayer funded military parade in Washington, D.C on his birthday, June 14. This display of military might is intended to intimidate opponents and solidify his image as a strongman.
So join us on Flag Day, June 14, at noon at the Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station as we say, “No Kings and No Dungeons!”

Moms Demand Action is at it again – trying to rationalize/spin criminal misuse of firearms as “gun violence” that just happens all by itself. Where did the “stray bullet” come from?

Wearing orange, marching, holding demonstrations, etc. is not going to make criminals stop what they are doing on the streets. The only “actions” we are going to get from “violence prevention” and “gun safety” groups have become predictable – and absurd. Blaming people legally owning guns nothing wrong for “not doing enough” to solve problems, more gun/magazine bans, frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers, mandatory “buyback” programs, etc.
