Falcons volleyball win NCS
The No. 1 ranked Foothill boys volleyball team concluded a dream 37-2 season on Saturday by winning their third NCS Division 1 Boys Volleyball title in four years.
It was quite a journey to get to the top but it was even tougher to stay at the top all season. Since winning the Northgate tournament, Foothill has been the target of its opponents every match. The players worked extremely hard as a team, finishing the season with an incredible 29-game winning streak. After prevailing in their two previous playoff matches, Foothill defeated Mission San Jose 25-21, 25-11, 25-23 in Saturday’s finals in the Falcon gym.
Volunteers needed for Special Olympics event
The Special Olympics East Bay is looking for volunteers to help at the Regional Track Meet and Volleyball Tournament May 30, at Amador Valley High School. Various assignments are available and are on a first come basis. To register, send an e-mail to avboosters@comcast.net.
Amador JV Boys tennis finish undefeated
Amador JV tennis players capped a 19-0 season, playing the following EBAL teams: Monte Vista 6-2 and 7-2; Cal High 4-2 and 5-1; Livermore 1-0 both matches; Granada 7-0 and 4-0; Foothill 10-2 and 9-0; San Ramon 4-2 and 6-3; and De La Salle 5-0 and 4-0. League matches ended 14-0 Amador win/loss record and losing only 14/87 total matches played. Rage U18 win state cup
Pleasanton Rage U18 girl’s premier soccer team won the 2009 State Cup by defeating the Danville Mustang Mavericks in the finals held in Morgan Hill May 3. The Mustang Mavericks had a 1-0 lead after the first half of play and with 15 minutes remaining in the game, the Rage tied the score with a goal by Nina Watkins after a shot on goal by Sophie. The game was then tied and less than five minutes left in regulation, Megan Jurado scored the winning goal with a perfectly timed header off the cross from Carlee Payne.
The team now advances to the Far West Regionals held in Lancaster, the week of June 15 to compete against the other Western US State Champions. The winner of the Far West Regionals will then advance to the National Championships which are scheduled to be played in July in the Massachusetts.
