Spirit Elite garner 1st in L.A. competition

California Spirit Elite’s scored a first place finish on April 10 in Los Angeles at the first International All-Levels Competition (IALC). CSE is a gym in Pleasanton with athletes from all over the Tri-County area (mainly Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Dublin and Danville).

Demo Day Saturday at Amador tennis courts

Pleasanton Golf & Tennis will be sponsoring a Demo Day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at the Amador Valley High School tennis courts. The public can “hit with the pros” and try out the latest and greatest rackets from Babolat, HEAD, Wilson and Prince. Attendees can also bring used rackets and balls to donate to the Patton School of Tennis Foundation, which benefits underserved high school tennis programs throughout the Bay Area. Foothill’s Zerio throws no-hitter

Foothill High School pitcher Chris Zerio threw a no-hitter to beat Pleasant Grove 12-0 in the Monte Vista Freshmen Easter Invitational Tournament April 15. He pitched to two batters over the minimum, giving up just one walk and received strong offensive support as Foothill slugged out twelve hits including contributions from Jake Jefferies who went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs and a home run by Sean Hanks.

Rage U14 defeat Diablo FC in Sweet 16

The Pleasanton Rage U14 soccer team came away with a 2-0 victory over Diablo FC, in the round of Sweet 16, in State Cup play on April 19 in Morgan Hill. Rage came out and offensively moved the ball down the field and had several nice shots on goal by Sydney Ruegsegger. In the second half of the game, Rage dominated play. The first goal came on a hard fought goal by Becca Beasley. A few minutes later Nicole Heller carried the ball down the field and placed a nice pass to Becca Beasley for the second goal. Alysse Ketner, Taylor McGarry, Haley Jackson, Jessica Chen, Jenna Herana and Jacquiline Summers played a solid middle for Rage. The defense of Emmy Rodriguez, Nicole Heller and Lauren Terres and Chidi Onwueghu stopped any scoring by their opponent. Heather Seeley and Emily Slominski did a great job in goal, with several key saves.
