Table tennis lovers will unite this weekend for a workshop and demonstration. From 9:30 to 11 a.m., the public is invited to attend a workshop held by physical education teachers where participants will learn basic play and skills. It will be held at Pleasanton Middle School, 5001 Case Ave.
Immediately following the workshop is a one-hour demonstration on how to play basic table tennis. Skills covered include grips, forehand, backhand, footwork, serving and spins. You’ll also learn how to care for your equipment.
Both sessions are free of charge and are offered by the Tri-Valley Table Tennis Club and the city of Pleasanton’s Recreation Department. For information, call Annie Li at 200-8078 or visit www.trivalleyttc.com.
BUSC Black U14 wins 1-0 over undefeated Danville Mustangs
The visiting BUSC Black U14 beat out the Danville Mustang Bolts with a 1-0 score. The Mustang Bolts were previously undefeated. The BUSC Black defense was key in the win, keeping the Mustang Bolts from scoring. Hunter Meurrens scored the winning goal in the 29th minute which was a shot from midfield that bounced into the net with Cade Debenedetti ensuring the ball went in. Jared Shohfi also had a shot on goal in the game that nearly went in. Keeper Lukas Moses had three saves in the game.

Pleasanton Rage U16, Division 1 AC
After taking a nearly three-week layoff from the pitch, the Pleasanton Rage U16 Division 1 AC team took on the Fremont Fury and came away with a 1-1 tie. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie as both teams created times of dominance, but were unable to penetrate the goal. Following the mid-game break, the Fury came out with renewed energy and punched the initial goal past the Rage goalkeeper in the 48th minute. The teams battled back and forth until the 78th minute, when the Rage capitalized on a scoring opportunity to level the score at 1-1. Brittany Repac carried the ball down the right flank and crossed it onto the foot of an on-rushing Ailsa Smith. Smith redirected the cross into the goal. The Rage back line of Sarah Ramirez, Laura Yoshida and Taylor Schoonover played a strong match.
Pleasanton Rage Division 3, U15
The fields were in good shape on Sunday when the Rage U15 D3 faced off against the San Ramon Sharp Shooters at the Athan Downs fields. The Rage scored 15 minutes into the first half, on a pass by Noelle Malindzak to Casey Curtis. First half GK Alex Villanueva had a save on six Sharp Shooter shots, holding them scoreless. In the second half, the Sharp Shooters rallied with a tough defense and offense. Saves by GK Heidi Johns held off their scoring opportunities, while the Rage forwards pressed the offense without the reward of another goal.
Standout defense was provided by Rage players Niki Gotelli, Vicki Binder, and Maggie Blasing. Midfielders Ellie Kim and Sara Quero moved the ball crisply out of Rage territory, feeding it to forwards Noelle Malindzak, Julia Price, and Casey Curtis. Players Richelle Brozosky, Stephanie Boggs, and Emma Caswell had strong plays to contribute to the 1-0 win for the Rage.
BUSC Rush 3, Renegades 1
The Rush defeated the Renegades 3-1 on a beautiful autumn morning in an exciting soccer match in the BUSC U12 Division 4. The Renegades opened the scoring midway through the first half with a beautiful break-away goal to take a 1- 0 lead. Moments later, Jordan Ott hit the right goal post with a strong kick that bounced across the goal box to the left side where Josh Stevens controlled the ball and zipped it past the goalie and into the net for a 1-1 tie.
Towards the end of the first half, Josh Stevens stole the ball from a Renegades defender in the left corner of the goal box and kicked a wicked line drive hook that bent around the left post for a 2–1 Rush lead. In the second
half, Jordan Ott made a crisp pass to Josh Stevens in the left corner who lofted a perfect pass to Luis Garcia in front of the goal box who then headed it into the net for a 3–1 Rush lead, that turned out to be the final score.
Connor Moore and Tyler Acosta-Jewell played excellent goalie for the Rush. Josh Stevens, Luis Garcia, Jordan Ott, Brennon Morris and Patrick Pipitone led the offensive attack for the Rush. Greg Hadley, DC Cheung, David Goldner and Shantanu Deshmane played superb defense for the Rush, stealing countless balls from the Renegades and holding them in check throughout the whole game.

Ben Lindley scored six goals and played second half as a goal keeper. Lincoln played first half as a goalkeeper and scored one goal in the second half.

Livermore Hawks 1, Ballistic Hurricanes 4
The Hurricanes pulled off a great win on Sunday over the Livermore Hawks. Titus Norton scored two goals, Sam Dissels and Sean Wilske each had one goal for the Hurricanes.
