Fireworks in Dublin
“Safe and Sane” fireworks are being sold by registered local nonprofits in Dublin now through Independence Day for personal use at single-family homes and select public parks in the city.

Dublin is the only community in the Tri-Valley that authorizes the possession and use of fireworks by the public, and only the “Safe and Sane” brand around the Fourth of July holiday. City officials urge residents to keep key safety precautions in mind to help avoid potential injury, property damage or fire.
The fireworks can be used at a single-family home (no multifamily housing complexes) during the sales window, which opened Wednesday (June 28) and continues until Tuesday (July 4).
They can also be used on the Fourth of July between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. in the parking lots of Alamo Creek Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Emerald Glen Park and Shannon Park. Learn more at dublin.ca.gov.
PPD Community Advisory Board seeks applicants
Pleasanton Police Chief David Swing and his department are recruiting prospective applicants for its Community Advisory Board.
The committee, created in the wake of the social justice upheaval in 2020, is comprised of at least 12 members of diverse ages, experiences and opinions who advise the police chief on issues “related to public safety, presenting community concerns, and providing constructive feedback for the police department.”
The board is strictly advisory, with no power or authority to investigate or review specific police personnel or police-related incidents. The volunteer position is open to any adult who lives, works or owns a business in Pleasanton with no criminal conviction within the last 12 months.

Tri-Valley tourism strategy
Visit Tri-Valley has begun work to prepare its latest five-year Destination Strategic Plan, which will serve as “a road map that guides the area’s tourism efforts for years to come” in Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and Danville (the part of the region served by the organization).
The process has a particular focus on analyzing a potential new regional multi-use venue. “The goal of this plan is to develop strategies that help further develop a vibrant visitor economy while also enhancing the quality of life for residents,” officials said.
Public input continues to be solicited on the 2023-27 strategic plan. Go to visittrivalley.com.
