State Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda) is set to host a virtual community forum on gun safety this week, alongside Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Livermore) advocates DaVonne Bogan and Shannon Watts.
“Every day in America, lives are cut short by senseless acts of gun violence,” Bauer-Kahan said in the announcement for the event. “Our children are growing up in a world where they regularly see mass shootings on the news and wonder if their school or community might be next. We have to act to create a world free from gun violence.”
The virtual community forum is scheduled for this Wednesday (Feb. 2) from 5-6 p.m. via Zoom. Meeting information will be sent on the day of the event to those who RSVP.
Questions can be sent to the panelists ahead of time by emailing assemblymember.bauer-kahan@assembly.ca.gov with the subject line “Gun Safety”.

“Virtual” (not real) is an appropriate term for this event because using guns “safely” is not going to be the subject of this event/topic discussed. It’s the usual cast of characters (an echo chamber) that will blame guns for violence, make more excuses for the criminals on the streets who misuse them, and then demand more “sensible” bans/restrictions on firearms (in a state with some of the strictest laws in the nation) for those not involved. Swalwell has already demanded gun confiscation for the law abiding as a “solution” for “gun violence”.
Start with stopping smash and grabs, or criminals just walking out of stores, show us you can stop those.
Address homelessness. And stop blaming communities for not wanting illegal and dangerous tent shelters popping up everywhere.
And how about making education in ca great.
Show us you’re working on the real tangible issues vs your own re election bingo card.
Oh…..and stop hiring spies from other countries.
I agree with Pleasanton Parent in Pleasanton Meadows.

I agree. It is indeed senseless to refer to criminal activity/destruction/lives lost on the streets of our cities (aided by so called “bail reform” and “progressive” prosecutors) as “gun violence”. But this reasoning is par for the course for the political left – everyone is a “victim” (including the criminals) and something going wrong afterward is conveniently the fault of someone/something else.
