Pleasanton residents Carol and Jerry Boster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 19.

The couple were high school sweethearts at Bexley High near Columbus, Ohio and have been together for 59 years. They got married June 19, 1965 in Columbus.

Carol graduated from Ohio State University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education. Jerry attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, later earning a degree in physics also at Ohio State.

The Bosters moved from Columbus to Pleasanton in 1978. Carol taught in the Pleasanton Unified School District while Jerry was self-employed. They have two children, Rick and Kathy, and three granddaughters.

Now retired, Carol is a substitute teacher in the school district and coordinates Fairlands Elementary’s QuickReads tutoring program while Jerry enjoys taking care of the yard. Carol also serves as secretary on the Livermore-Amador Symphony board. They are members of Valley Community Church in Pleasanton.
